RE: Canceling Reservations due to pending Hurricane?

We were in Fort Wilderness when Wilma visited a couple of years ago. Park staff came around first with a possible evacuation notice, then an official evacuation notice the next morning.
They offered space in the AllStar resorts, we had planned to leave the following day anyway, so we just headed home a day early.
FW has too many trees which could cause injury or damage to allow people to stay.

RE: Who's going to Albuquerque in October?

Hi,
I am going to Albuquerque for the hot air balloon fiesta that starts October 3rd and goes for a full week. I plan on dry camping on the "Old Field" that is on the south side of Alemeda street, and west of I25.
They have water sites and limited electric sites at that field, as well as other accomidations.
While camping as a group requires all RV's to arrive in a group, or to reserve an area ahead of time, I will just get a random site, and hope for the best. I also plan to leave the campground for a little hile at some time mid-week, then re-enter and find a more ideal spot if there are some empty sites that look desirable.
The key is to park, set up the main awning and 2 chairs quickly in a empty area, then when the gof cart shows up to tell you where to go - they will look for a RV that has not been parked but the recently arrived one.
They attempt to park the RV's about 7 feet between each other - so backing in and being directionally challenged (a stupid look on your face helps) can help you get a 8 or 9 foot wide parking area.
You do need room to put out the awnings without hitting the neighbor's slide!
One year I got a great site - it was next to a large open area where they landed some of the hot air balloons.
I hope to be able to sneek in with a crew of balloon pilots - they often will give a ride to those who will help launch the balloons.
Having a bicycle will help - waiting on the suttle busses to drive back and forth between the old field and new field can take some time - with the heavy traffic and lots of people walking back and forth.
There are several nights that are well worth visiting the field. Like when the tie down the special shape balloons and light them up for a "Balloon Glow" - they fire off the burners lighting up the inside of the balloon while the spectators take thousands of pictures.
BalloonFiesta.com is the official website for the Albuquerque hot air balloon fiesta.
Fred.
Thanks for all the great tips Fred! This is on my list of places to see one day, but sadly not this year.
I'm going to save this post though, for the info, have a great time!

Kathy, with all of Corey's help, you had it made!!!
:B
Hahaha, yes he only hung up on one customer, but it's really hard to maintain a professional persona with a little voice in the background saying "gramma, gramma, come here" :B

Steve, you need to be friends with the rock - stone is good - concrete is cool :B
Seriously though, I feel your pain. I worked 75 hours this week to cover other employees who were on vacation - my penance for taking a 3 week vaca myself this summer :( I am one tired puppy too!
Corey went to work with me for 5 hours everyday last week too, talk about doing double duty :E

RE: Titan Tires and an honest dealer

Our tire dealer stopped selling Titan tires 2 years ago after he was unable to get any kind of compensation from them for damages to our TT after 2 blowouts (each side - separate incidents) - they did give us $20 each for 2 tires with less than 5000 miles and 8 months old.
Titan wouldn't even talk to him about it, no damages paid whatsoever, even after determining the tire was defective. At least with GY they will pay for damage done if you have a blowout from a defective tire.

RE: Aug. 8, 9, 10-3rd Battle of Mohican Rump Bumpin Ohio Rally

Fred & I are considering hosting a Kennywood Park Rally. The last week-end in June. Staying at Benner's near my hometown because there is so much else to do around there if Kennywood is not your thing. Let me know if there's any interest and we'll work on it.
The last weekend in June(26-28) is good for us after checking my year-in-advance work calendar :B
Your just too organized. :B
Not so much organized, just needing to know how many weekends we can camp with Ohio ralliers next year. This year only 2 rallies were on my weekend off... :(

RE: Aug. 8, 9, 10-3rd Battle of Mohican Rump Bumpin Ohio Rally

Idea for a rally - I did some checking and it is about time for the Tall Stacks festival again in Cincy (last held October 2006). No date is set right now.
Possible location - Follow the River RV Resort in Florence Indiana
New RV park on the Ohio River
Ken's brothers stayed there last year right after they opened - the park is owned by the same people who own Perfect North Slopes in Lawrenceburg IN
Just a thought...

RE: camping near Indianopolis

From the Cedar Ridge website:
Cedar Ridge
They must have rolled back the date for the membership only era, as I was checking their website early this year and ruled them out due to this new policy soon to take place.
Another CG in the Bloomington area is Lake Monroe Village.

We're home too... what a wonderful weekend spent with people we don't get to see often enough.
So nice to meet Joy & Rick and Tammy,Mark & family - plus all the friends & family that came for the water battles!
Thanks Linda & Larry, we had a great time.
Sorry to all about the muddy roads this morning :B

RE: Landmark vs. Grand Junction

If you can get the Landmark for the same price as the Grand Junction, get it.
IMO the GJ is more on par with the Heartland's Bighorn line.

RE: Yellowstone - Motorhome vs Car Rental/Toad

As long as you plan to go off-peak season, you should be fine. We were there the end of June- first of July and there were lots of nearly full parking areas.
We watched one poor fellow towing a fifth wheel in the Black Sand Basin lot get totally stuck as he tried to make the loop at the end of the parking lot.

Thank you...
I'm doing potty training boot camp this week - 3 yr old Corey is still not "independent" and his no-diapers preschool class starts in 2 weeks. Wish me luck :B
Here's a sample of his attitude (overheard while sitting on the potty)
"Mom, I'm done procrastinating !!!!" :B:B:B
